      Entretien

There were supposedly 4 stages to the interview - a video interview where you record yourself responding to prompts, an actual interview with a person, an assessment and then a final interview with a couple of people. I thought the video interview was a horrible idea -if my resume is good enough to you, why make me record myself when we could just have an actual video call and have a conversation? During our zoom call, I informed them that I had never used the software they use called Airtable (although I have years of experience using several types of systems and databases and can learn a new one). They still went ahead to give me an assessment on the software; I obviously didn't pass this; I had managed to perform tasks with airtable, but didn't do it as accurately as they needed (because I never used this and I had one day to put something together). They couldn't even respond to me for days after I had sent several messages for a follow-up, only for the owner to send me what came off as a non-chalant message on Linkedin that they won't move forward with me because I didn't successfully complete a task using a software that they were aware I had never used before. Companies need to understand that you can teach technical skills but you can't teach people skills. They are not a large company,so ignoring an applicant that had invested time in the application process and was willing to learn was just rude, especially if you were very consistent in messaging initially. I had to reach out to someone else in the organization to help me find out what the decision on my application was. Terrible people skills there.

Hi :) Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to write about your interview experience with us. I'm happy to address some of the points here: As you can imagine, we usually receive hundreds of applicants per vacancy, and, as you point to us being a small organisation, we simply don't have the capacity to interview every single person whose CV we like. So, we use a system to shortlist, which involves applicants doing a small application video. We have found this to be a successful way of shortlisting applicants. The majority of applicants that we get haven't used Airtable before, and that's something that we completely expect. The task only really requires the most basic use of Airtable, and we are testing an applicant's ability to research software functionality independently, as well as their ability to carry out research on particular content matter - we believe it was the latter that you fell short on, not specifically on your use of Airtable. In terms of number of days, I believe that you requested to know the outcome just three days after submitting your interview tasks, at which point we responded to you - this isn't something that we would general regard as 'ignoring'. If any message sent to you felt nonchalant, that is something we will look into and aim to improve in the future. Thank you again for taking the time to feedback to us - we will bear your experiences in mind when reviewing our recruitment process.
