Applied online. Responded pretty quickly. I did a lot of research prior to and understood the risks and implications of being an independent contractor. They reiterated to make sure I understood the ramp up phase, which can be difficult and challenging. I had the initial screening with the business development team, then interview with a sales director the following week. Follow up with another interview with the Sales Director in my district, which asked more situational questions and such. I've never had phone interviews (always panel interviews in the past) so this was a different experience for me--not as horrible as I imagined, not being able to see the interviewer and all. In the end, I accepted the offer and look forward to the training and working my butt off. It was a risk I was willing to take, and I'm excited for this opportunity. They seem very sincere in wanting you to succeed as long as you're coachable and can follow a proven system. Will write another review in the next couple months as follow up...

I was prepared, did research on N2. The Glassdoor employee reviews are mostly raving because they make money. However, there is another, much darker side to the process. A lot of people get hurt in the process. Specifically the advertisers, that get no ROI on their investments. The concept is nonsense. People don't need to read ads about businesses in their little area, they know them, unless they live like moles. Only business owners go to the community meetings and exchange business cards... I confronted the recruiter with my concerns and she immediately got defensive. "This is going in a negative direction," she stated irritated. When I brought up the issue of no ROI for the advertisers, the conversation got tense. Finally, after I mentioned that the whole Christian aspect was bogus, she had enough. "This is not a good fit, sir", she said and hung up on me... A clever scam that only benefits the founders, who make millions under the cover of being people, family and God oriented. The Christian aspect is very troubling, because it's exactly the opposite that's happening. It's all about money, ruthless if need be. N2 won't shy away from lawsuits to force disgruntled advertisers to honor their long term contracts (up to 4 years!?), even when owners went out of business. Beware and steer clear!

Hi there, I'm very sorry to hear about your perspective on our company, but I am looking forward to the opportunity to change it. I'd like to start by addressing your concern that we are not a God-, family-, or people-centered company. I do believe this is far from the typical perspective on N2. Leadership has made it repeatedly clear, to me and to the entire company, that their #1 goal in doing business is loving people well. For us, N2 didn't even start as a publishing company -- it started as an opportunity to build an enterprise where people didn't have to sacrifice their families in order to have a successful career. People are absolutely our highest priority. For us, being a God-honoring business is more than a mission statement. We aren't a Christian company, but we do hold ethics and values at the forefront of all our business decisions. And because of this, we do treat our advertisers with fairness. I know that may seem contrary to your research, but I whole-heartedly believe that to be true. We do work, extensively, with our advertisers to make sure they get the most out of their agreement, and we continue to work with them when their business needs change to make sure our partnership is the most effective it can be for both parties. It is simply not true that we force clients who have gone out of business to continue their partnership with us. And, even if your research on N2 yielded negative opinions from advertisers, I must stress that we do have about 36,000 advertisers throughout the nation. Even if we had 100 negative reviews (which we don't), that would represent less than 0.3% of our clients. And I know that most of our advertisers are satisfied with our services, as we have one of the highest renewal rates in our industry. I truly hope you will be able to see even a portion of my perspective as valid. N2 truly is a company that cares about people. And, in that spirit, we wish you nothing but the best in your career search. Best, Katherine Daniel

I found this company on an online job board and sent my resume. I was contacted immediately via email and set up a phone interview. Their posting on the job board was quite vague so I was a little skeptical from the start. They sent me an email with some videos to learn about the company before the phone interview. I watched the vids and it seemed like it might be a good opportunity . Then during our conversation it was clear this was not the career opportunity I was looking for. Simply because The sales reps do not get paid salary.

      Question 1

I barely made it through the first question. Once I realized this wasn't the opportunity I was looking for I thanked them for their time and hung up.
