      Entretien pour Operations Research Analyst

      10 août 2020
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Minneapolis, MN
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Target (Minneapolis, MN) en juil. 2020

      Entretien

After the recruiter emailed me if I'm interested in the role, we had a short call. He explained the location is in Minneapolis and gave some overview of the team. Fast forward to the screening call, two individuals called and ask me some generic technical questions. Then they scheduled four sessions for the interviews: Round 1) I met with a analyst from the team and he asked the SQL query question. He was clearly copy/pasting and reading off leetcode because he not properly explaining the question. Then he asked some overall questions about duality theorem but was not taking note on my performance. Round 2) I met with a manager who was supervising the role. We had some generic chat about supply chain but nothing technical. Round 3) I met with another manager, and we went over my resume. Again nothing technical, I felt they just want to get a sense of your personality at that point. Round 4) I met with another manager but this round was interesting. He joined the call about 5 minutes late. Then he started to brag about his managerial experience and how he identified the need to form a group of world-class operations researchers there. Then he bragged about Target being a fortune 50 companies. Then he threatened that if you're looking for an easy going job where you get off at 5 pm this is not for you. The whole conversation had a negative tone which I did not like. After the interview sessions I knew that is not a healthy environment to work. So I was not following up with the recruiter but during the three weeks after, he was sending me emails that we are interviewing more people and you're among the top candidates. Eventually, he called and let me know the team chose someone with more industry experience.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

      Write a SQL query to rank scores. If there is a tie between two scores, both should have the same ranking. Note that after a tie, the next ranking number should be the next consecutive integer value. In other words, there should be no "holes" between ranks. +----+-------+ | Id | Score | +----+-------+ | 1 | 3.50 | | 2 | 3.65 | | 3 | 4.00 | | 4 | 3.85 | | 5 | 4.00 | | 6 | 3.65 | +----+-------+ For example, given the above Scores table, your query should generate the following report (order by highest score): +-------+---------+ | score | Rank | +-------+---------+ | 4.00 | 1 | | 4.00 | 1 | | 3.85 | 2 | | 3.65 | 3 | | 3.65 | 3 | | 3.50 | 4 | +-------+---------+
