I applied pre-Covid (pre-Motel 6 situation). I got a call saying they think Richards Lerma would be a good fit. I have heard from my non-white peers who also applied to TRG that they were offered jobs in Richards Lerma (now Lerma). I'm also POC and was disappointed but not surprised when I heard back that I would be a good fit for Lerma... Most of my peers including myself are not Hispanic/Latinx which Lerma focuses on. I was not told why I would be a better fit there. Wasn't that surprised when employees started coming forward that TRG wasn't as inclusive as they presented themselves to be and clients started dropping them. Hopefully things have changed for the better.

It started off with some employee visiting my school and checking out our portfolios before graduation. That went well and I followed up with the recruiter. They were very quick to respond (within like 15min) and wanted to set up an initial phone interview for the next day. After about 20min of talking with the recruiter, I was invited to the office for an in-person interview. It was a crazy day of meeting with about 8 different people including the owner, Stan Richards. The whole day felt like they were just trying to get to know me and I had to do very little selling of myself. They asked questions about my family, and what I like to do outside of work and really felt like the cared about hiring someone that would fit in the company, someone who has the same kind of values as them. Day concluded with a tour of the incredible new office space and meeting some more people for a brief moment. Overall, it was a very positive experience. Everyone couldn’t have been nicer.
