Applied to two similar positions. TNTP uses an outside recruiting service for their phone screenings. For the first one, the recruiter sounded extremely rude and frustrated with me although I was upbeat and answered questions professionally. She sounded like interviewing me was a chore. I didn't get through to the next round. The second time I applied for a similar role (hoping to get a different recruiter), my recruiter seemed pretty pleasant and pushed me through to the next round. Although I know there may be several people qualified to do this job, it's upsetting that they would ask me to write something up that took about 4 hours total (and I'm a writer by profession) and then send me a generic rejection email. Truthfully, there are MAJOR flaws with the way TNTP screens applicants. Shame on them for using people's desperation to make them waste so much time on a super long assignment only to send them a generic email. Coming from someone who fit very specific requirements that are hard to find in one person (trust me), I will tell you to not waste your time. It's not worth it. I feel insulted and like people at TNTP are playing power games with their applicants. Terrible experience. Never again.
