I applied online for 2 months using different job search engines i found that LinkedIn was the best one, it gives you options for getting notifications when a job offer or job description matching to the one you are looking for is available daily which made it easier for me to apply and was very easy and straight forward.
when i applied online i received an email confirming my application, about 2-3 weeks i received another email to fill out an online assessment survey almost 150 questions all rating yourself and your skills as an individual, some questions were like "im a happy person" rate from 1-5, (1 being no, 5 being very happy )
1-2 weeks later i received an email to confirm a date for a phonic interview, i replied back with the date i was given and time, i received the phone call and the questions where very basic i have listed them below for you.
1-2 weeks later i received a phone call asking me if i would be able to come in to a group interview that was being hosted in Toronto, 4 days from the day of the call. this gave me time to search everything i can about group interviews, what to wear, prep for questions and watch for things to do out shine the others in the room but still be a team player at the same time
The group interview: if you have yet to experience this form of interview dont worry i will explain everything i know and how mine went and all the stuff i found out online about it, so the interview was very straight forward they explain how it will work once everyone shows up, they will introduce themselves, in my interview there was about 10 hiring managers from all around the GTA. they will ask everyone if any one wants to volunteer to introduce themselves, This is where you Shine VOLUNTEER AND GO FIRST no matter how nervous and how strange it feels go first even if you blank out because chances are everyone is nervous and everyone is blanking out but you break the ice and show that your are adaptable, dont be too serious they are not looking for robots, think about it this way, your in a room of 30-40 people you have never met and never spoken to what do you have to lose in being your self, obviously dont swear or be rude but take a breath and just talk to people like you would anywhere. after the intros you will be given an activity to complete, something like selling a promotion or creating a poster/presentation about an event you will be given all the information to do it and its group work so you have to be able to talk and get to know your fellow members around your table. take note: this is a test they want to see how well you work as a group, as well as if you are comfortable with others around you, DO NOT GO ON YOUR PHONE!! there were many people in the room who instead of talking and holding a convo with there group members where just sitting on there phones looking bored this looks very bad for your hiring manager this makes you look like a shy or too cool for others kinda person which makes you a bad candidate. while you work on the activity, you will have one hiring manage come by and pull one person at a time for a one on one interview. i will list the questions below.
some do's
-show up early they want to see who really cares
-Make sure you have a mint.
-be prepared bring a pen
-make sure you smell good
-BE FIRST not for everything but to introduce your self you should be first, be Enthusiastic!! really important let your personality shine.
-women: wear a bright green top under your suit jacket this will make you stand out, if you plan to wear a dress make sure you wear pantyhose with them
-Men wear a bright green tie, with your suit, wear a grey suit instead of black to stand out. also proper dress shoes look ready to work .
after the one on one interview and the group presentation make sure to go up thank the members for the opportunity shake there hands and make sure to be smiling
i got a phone call about 20 min after i left the interview informing me about the position and congratulating me on my position, on the phone they inform you that the offer is conditional, they must do a background check as well as a criminal record check they ask you if there is anything they must know before those are done, be honest if you have some thing on your record if you dont then dont sweat it. this whole processes takes about a week or two to complete the paper work and to complete all of your forms and make sure they are not hiring a killer. after all of that is done you start working.
