I made it to the third round of interviews which was an on-site interview giving a demo and then follow up interviews after that. The first two phone interviews I felt I made it very clear that I did not have a finance background and I was a client facing project manager.
I was brought into a room to give the demo to 3 employees. They introduced themselves and then sat on their laptops until one employee set me up for the demo. It was honestly pretty uncomfortable. I was under the impression the demo would be more about speaking to the technology of the software at a high level since I did apply for a program manager role and not a finance or sales role. I felt they were asking me more in depth financial questions which took me off guard because I was pretty clear I did not have a finance background. In the middle of my demo one of the employees took her laptop out and started working. Maybe it made her feel important. I do think that speaks to the culture when someone can’t be bothered to wait 5 more minutes until the end of a demo. Especially when I took time out of my work day. After my demo I was told that they weren’t going to move forward with any more interviews and they were really looking for and expert in Supernova technology that could go out and give client demos today. So that says to me 1. They are looking for a sales role and 2. You are expected to research and train yourself. I will say I do not think I gave a great demo but I had just moved across the country and did not want to cancel out of respect for their time and I probably should have canceled. Even if I gave the demo that I thought I should have I don’t think it was probably what they were looking for.
In conclusion-
- This does not seem to be a project management role. It is definitely more of a sales role. I had 3 interviews and there was not one question asked about project management or any soft skills. If that’s the case I probably should have not made it past the first interview
- Your required to work a few nights a week on calls with their development team in China
- Pay is very average
- Not a great experience with the people
- Hybrid is 4 days a week
- All and all it may be a good place to put on your resume but I don’t really see anything else that you couldn’t find at another company for more pay and better culture and people.
It had 4 rounds for me, including the CEO. They also requested a demo of their product. They people were nice but I did not think it was a good fit for my career goals.

I went through multiple rounds of interviews at Supernova Technologies, and unfortunately, I walked away with a very negative impression. The overall culture came across as cold and unwelcoming. Every team member I spoke with interrupted me frequently, and the tone of the questions felt more like they were trying to catch me in a mistake rather than getting to know my skills or experience.
By the second round, it became clear to me that this was not a place where I’d feel respected or supported. Interviews are a two-way street, and my experience left me feeling more tested than valued. I chose not to proceed further because the culture just didn’t align with what I’m looking for in a team or company.
