Interview process is fairly well-described in other reviews. I enjoyed most interviews, but two specific things were problematic:
1) During the behavioral interview, it was made clear that Stripe wanted to hire only product-driven people: people who care a lot about user experience and building a great product. I am not product-driven; I care mostly about solving hard technical problems. I know that Stripe has hard technical problems, and I feel that it shouldn't really matter what motivates me, as long as I am engaged. So I'm not sure why Stripe is forcing this artificial filter in their interview phase. Moreover, I have no idea why this wasn't communicated in the recruiter screen.
2) After the onsite, I didn't receive any response. Not even an automated rejection email. I messaged the recruiter twice, but got nothing in response. I can maybe understand getting ghosted after a recruiter call, but I spent 9 hours of my time (including travel) for the onsite. So to get absolutely no response is unprofessional and insulting.

Applied for a Backend Engineer role and passed the HackerRank screening. After the recruiter screening a coding round was scheduled but the interviewer never showed up. After waiting for the interviewer I reached out multiple times via email over several weeks but received no response, not even a basic acknowledgment.
Stripe's engineering culture is well regarded but the candidate experience here was unprofessional and a significant waste of preparation time. Candidates deserve at least a courtesy reply.

Extremely unprofessional conclusion to a demanding interview process. I participated in multiple rounds of interviews including a recruiter screen, technical screen, and super day with 4 interviews (3 technical, 1 behavioral). The interviews were difficult but fair and allowed candidates to showcase a range of skills used every day in software engineering.
After my final round, I was told that I passed the interviews and received positive feedback from the team, but that they were "waiting for more headcount to open up" and we would continue with the team match process at that point. Stripe reposted the same job listing a month later, indicating that more headcount opened, and I reached out to follow up. I have now reached out multiple times over email and phone but have been completely ignored.
After the time commitment for both me and the employees who interviewed me, a proper rejection is the least Stripe could do. The conclusion of this interview process has been completely unprofessional.

Phone Screen,
The recruiter was 13 minutes late, but aside from that, it was an enjoyable conversation. They didn't really ask many questions; I just confirmed parts of my resume, and they inquired about my leadership experience. Then we discussed the next stage, and I had an email to book my next interview within 30 minutes. Overall, a quick and to-the-point chat but still warm and encouraging.
