We met at a local breakfast place and discussed my work history and resume. The questions were standard and very laid-back. The agent showed his passion about the company and gave a brief history of his time as a State Farm agent. We discussed the responsibilities of the job and what would be expected upon hiriing. After the interview, he sent an email with pay and commission structure along with an offer.

During COVID they were all either phone or zoom calls and the last one is an in-person meeting. It was step by step being connected to different people trying to find the right location for me.

The interview process is extremely muddied with pseudo science and Meyers Briggs personality assessments. The Meyers Briggs assessment is a lazy and incompetent method of hiring candidates based on anecdotal evidence about what attributes lead to successful agents. The personality assessment is absurd and does not factor in human intuition and past accomplishments.

My interview with the agent last over an hour, with questions ranging from career goals to strength and weaknesses. We had a pretty good conversation which doesn't seems like an interview. Salary and commission were also in the discussion. Overall, it was a good interview.
