Highly dependent on department for which you are applying. It is generally very structured process - first you interview with HR, then the department. You will need to wait a few weeks because you need to receive a background check. Salaries are not really negotiable - this is an academic institution.

I applied online and the hiring manager called me the very next to schedule a screen. I then talked to the hiring manager who seemed nice but offered little in the way of feedback or response. I emailed her 4 weeks later and she did not even bother to update me on the status. Very unprofessional and complete lack of respect of interviewees time.
Three 30 min interviews within 2 weeks. Met with the whole team and in the end met with the executive director. Same day they asked for three references. Received an offer very quickly and accepted.

It’s a long interview process with a bunch of people. They have panels and one on one interviews after which they will string you along for weeks and then hire internally.
