I was initially offered a phone interview and a "take home manuscript assessment", which consisted of being sent two unpublished papers and having to read them and prepare a document summarizing them, discussing whether I would send them out for external review and why, and explaining what kind of reviewers I would look for. The phone interview was relatively casual, mainly discussing my interest in the field. I was then invited for an onsite interview, which last ~6 hours. The first hour was discussing continuing the discussion about my interest in the field with the team and division leaders, followed by an hour to read two unpublished manuscripts, at which point the team leader, division leader, and one other team member questioned my editorial decisions on the paper for ~2 hours, followed by meeting with the entire team.
