      Entretien

The worst interview experience during my lifetime, with full of abusive comments from the interviewer. I'm posting this because no candidates deserve this treatment. It was an introductory call with hiring manager who had a very fixed idea of how ideal candidates should be, which was NOT clearly expressed in the very short, generic job description. My CV didn't match his 'idea' at all but he invited me to the interview to waste my time because he wanted 'diversity'. However, no respect to my backgrounds and experiences, I was given insults because I lack of a specific skill that wasn't even mentioned 'mandatory' in the job description. I asked then why he picked my application??? The hiring manager even didn't believe me I was directly hired by one of FAANG companies in the past. "Were you directly hired by A (the name of company)? Perhaps it was not." The rudest question followed by an inappropriate comment based on a personal assumption. Perfect example of unconscious bias. It was a statement, rather question. The hiring manager enough demonstrated how he was seeing me. I wonder if this type of communication is a norm at Snowflake. The hiring manager didn't seem to be trained with basic interview/people management skills nor international business etiquette. Zero psychological safety. Many signs of gaslighting, micro aggressions. I got to know very little about the hiring manager and the company, too. Only job title and their university degree. No information about team set-up, product focuses, projects, culture, benefits. Absolutely nothing. I wasn't given time to ask any questions until we went over the agreed time. The entire interview was dominated by questions and inappropriate comments from hiring manager. Zero time management skills. Negative comments on his own colleagues: recruiters: "They don't know anything (about what the hiring manager is looking for)". No respect to other professions. Didn't you say earlier you wanted 'diversity'? Why don't you make an effort to improve the collaboration, before putting your colleagues down? It seemed to me that it was the hiring manager who doesn't know what he really wants. Blaming others because of his incompetence and laziness, not being able to understand true values those different bring and establish a great partnership with other business functions. He clearly didn't pass my assessment to be my future colleague. I ended the call from my side. I wasn't willing to waste my time for upcoming 8 rounds of interview to listen to further abusive comments about myself and others. On a contrary, the recruiter was very sweet, professional and responsive.

The interview process was elongated and drawn out. I spent 10-12 hours between interviews, prep, research & follow up. With over 80% of that time being interviews as I met with 8 people. During the process the recruiter was not very proactive or responsive. I only spoke on the phone with her once throughout the whole process which is disappointing considering I was meeting with senior manager, directors and above. I was asked for references(which they never contacted), then received a very brief decline email. I believe at the level I was interviewing and with the time invested it wasn't an unreasonable expectation to expect a phone call with a final decision. I also believe the process could be more consolidated. I met with each person in the process individually. Some of the roles I interviewed with had natural synergy so a panel interview would have likely been just as or maybe even more effective.
