First interview was with HR. Standard HR screen with typical questions. Second interview was with the hiring manager. First off, the manager was around 20 minutes late calling me. It seems that the HR person told him it was going to be an in-person and he was waiting in a conference room for me. When he got around to calling me he was clearly angry about the miscommunication from HR, which he carried through the entire call with me. He ask me no questions and insisted that I ask him questions for the 45 minutes we had on the call, which I was prepared for, but did not expect to be the one questioning him for the entire time. When I did try to interject my experience or tried to start a conversation, it seemed like he could care less. The call ended with him telling me how picky SmartSheet is and that I better be ready to ask more questions to determine if I would be a fit. I never received a call or email after the interview from anyone at SmartSheet. How they qualified my ability to do the job based on the questions I asked, I do not know. I was very qualified for the role based on the job description, but they never took it upon themselves to determine that by engaging in a conversation. It seems like a very cold place to work.
