I set up the first interview, and the day came and went with no call. The HR person reached out to me the next day and apologized and asked to reschedule. I did, and they sent me a timed 50-question assessment. I fully completed it. I was told most people don't.
I had a meeting scheduled with a manager the following afternoon, but I got called into a work meeting at the same time. I let the HR person know as soon as I knew - they never responded. My meeting was then rescheduled, so I let the HR person know I could still make the interview. No response. I showed up to the interview anyway, and the person I was supposed to meet with showed up late. I apologized, thinking they were late because of me. They said not to worry about it and blamed the meeting software for not connecting fast enough. This means they were late on their own and never spoke to the HR person.
My assessment was never mentioned. Instead, the interview started with asking me, not that it matters, but how close do I live to the company's headquarters. (Pro tip: It always matters when they say, not that it matters.) We then had what I felt was a great interview, very conversational and with them taking notes on points I made. They said they'd contact the HR person with next steps.
A week goes by - nothing. I reach out to the HR person for an update - nothing. It has now been two weeks since the interview, and I haven't heard a peep from anyone. I go on Glassdoor to see that ghosting is a common practice for this company. How disappointing to be treated with such disrespect. A simple email letting a candidate know either way whether they have the job is more honorable than running away with your tail between your legs.
