I applied with Slalom because they are one of the highly rated tech consultancies. I am extremely technical in the enterprise infosec field, and am a well-educated senior consulting manager with a Big Four background, and it seemed that Slalom would be a great match.
The senior recruiter seemed nice enough in email, but she was quite different in person. The interview (in a coffee shop) was an inquisition of my background and resume, with an underlying tenor of suspicion and distrust. And on reflection I believe personal anger. I was so taken aback by this that I was reluctant to respond to some questions.
This sort of approach by a recruiting manager means that either (a) all of her other job applicants are liars, or (b) that she has not gotten up and done her homework on my background and relies instead on hammering applicants. It is certainly not the way to recruit high quality contributors.
This experience has left me wondering whether Slalom employees are actually -terrorized- into giving the company great reviews.
