1st interview was with owner. Second interview with operations manager and last interview with owner again. Many valid questions for a job like this but a strange turn at the end. The owner insisted on “we can’t carry a bad hire” so he spent a lot of time explaining how to work out a trial period before I quit my job at the time. During my last interview the owner made a soft offer which was below the pay of what I was earning at my job. Naturally, I countered asking for a higher pay, to at least get closer to my rate. After this, the owner seemed bothered that I didn’t take his initial offer and didn’t negotiate, instead, he took the offer off the table. This was by far the strangest experience when applying for a job and to me a bad sign of this person’s management style and professionalism.
