I was interviewed for an internal Recruiter position. I have over 5 years of experience working with high-growth technology companies and never have I had such a terrible interview. The interviewer was an internal recruiter who's been there for 4 months and had ZERO recruitment experience before this. He was a musical sales manager prior to his role! When recruiting for senior manager or senior-level roles, you need to have recruiters who actually know what they're doing and who have the level of experience needed to ensure QUALITY CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE. The interview seemed unprofessional. The interviewer turned his camera half-way through the interview because he 'had to take notes'. This is such a strange this to say during a screening call and shows zero interest in the candidate experience. It screams, I'm just screening these qualifying questions and then moving on. Shopify's interviewing needs a serious change. They're growing too quickly and their candidate experience is dropping. I declined to move forward after this experience because this is not the culture nor the type of recruiting I support.

Unconventional which seemed Ok at first. The place had a real cult of personality vibe to it. Everyone was nice, but I really did get the sense of a "we are holier than thou feeling".
