Submitted resume - had a 15 min screen, then a week later a video interview and then was called it for 2 in-person interviews. The recruiter was very pleasant. Everything is laid back. The life story was Q&A just like everyone else describes. In persons were also more experienced based Q&A...My first impressions is that Shopify is not for everyone. It seems chaotic on the inside, experiencing massive growth but little actual direction. If you come from a corporate environment you’ll be in for a shock. Case in point - when I showed up for the in-person at the Toronto office, the front desk person was fully reclined in her seat, both feet up on the table. The other girl next to her had two beers in her hand. A tall boy and glass bottle which I assume she retrieved from the kitchen, where it’s available. The bottle she stuffed in her bag, the tall boy she cracked open whilst surfing on her phone, never breaking stride to even look up. I thought I understood the whole open concept, free love thing I guess - but this was surreal to me - almost as I was watching a scene from The Beach with Leo DiCaprio. I guess this is how workplaces are changing I guess...
