1. General Phone screening with a Shopee HR person about your background 2. Technical interview with a Shopee Data Scientist about general coding ability, typical DS & A stuff 3. Another technical interview with another Shopee data scientist about general coding ability and typical DS & A stuff 4. Final interview with the team's lead about culture fit, etc. So even though the position was for a Frontend engineer role, all of the technical interviews had nothing to do with frontend engineering. The first interview was with a Data scientist, not a frontend engineer, and I was asked a recursive dynamic programming problem in python. The second interview was with another data scientist, again not a frontend engineer, and this time had to do a graph traversal problem in python. At no point was my frontend development ability ever tested, which is confusing as I thought I was applying for a frontend engineer role. Shopee, if you want to hire frontend developers you should try to find out if they are good at what the job actually requires not solving puzzles irrelevant to frontend development. Also have the interviews done by frontend developers not data scientists. I feel like this isn't asking too much.

Round 1: Frontend focus (1h30m): - fundamental questions about HTML, CSS, JS, React - 1 medium algo coding question - 1 js function coding question - 1 react ui coding question - resume-based questions Round 2: CS fundamentals: 2 rounds with 2 tech lead (each round 1h) - Networking, Browser, Security - 1 medium algo coding question Round 3: Cultural fit: - 1 hour with Engineering Manager - 1 hour with Head of Engineer + Head of Product
