Started with a take home assessment of SQL and Excel questions based on some sample datasets/tables to test for proficiency. After that's screened, had an interview with a manager to go over the assessment and do basic interview questions. Followed by interviews with an analyst, another manager, and the department VP.
Got very little feedback but it was strictly positive throughout the process. VP talked about valuing moral character, doing things the right way, etc. 2 weeks after my final round (and feedback from the recruiter was that the VP had liked me), recruiter told me they were going another direction. Only when pressed did they come up with a (questionable) reason for their decision, claiming my SQL wasn't strong enough. This wreaks of an ex-post decision to cover their tracks (were this truly the case, they could've decided not to pursue the rest of the process either before or after the first interview). After talking so much about how the company itself was doing good, and how that's something they value in candidates, they demonstrated their true colors by failing to have the decency to be honest and communicative with candidates. Sure they can hide behind some corporate liability or the moral relativism that "everyone does it", but don't be fooled; they are no less slimy than any other corporate employer, but they're less honest about it.
