Unless your resume catches the interviewer's eye in 10 seconds it's over, you're done. So the big question is how do I catch the interviewer's eye? Here comes the best advice on how to get a job interview you'll ever get. Cater your resume to the job description!!! I can't stress this point enough. It's imperative that you cater your resume to each position you apply for. And I mean taking each line on the job description and writing a line on your resume to reflect your experience with regard to that line. Yes, it takes more time than sending the same resume to 100's of jobs, but you're far better off applying to a fraction of those jobs with a resume specifically written for each job. Put yourself in the interviewer's shoes. Their job is to hire the most qualified candidate. They've been given a set of qualifications to look for: aka the job description, and that's exactly what they're after, so give it to them!

The first interview was a 30-minute over-the-phone discussion with the recruiter. These were preliminary, common questions about your experience. A few days later, I was asked to participate in the next interview in the process, which consisted of a two hour long video interview. The 1st hour was with the leadship team, followed by the second hour with the current team. My experience was neutral, but the result was negative. The interview lasted the full two hours. Several scenarios were asked concerning my experience, etc. It was intense, mostly due to the length. I pride myself in my interview etiquette, leaving the interview I felt very good. I received a call less than an hour later from the recruiter stating the team had gone with a different candidate. I sent a follow-up email to the recruiter asking for feedback. He said he wasn't given a reason why I wasn't accepted or considered, but informed me that I was the final candidate to be interviewed. Considering the quick turn around almost immediately after the interview and being informed I was the last candidate to he interviewed leaves me to believe that the team had already selected the candidate to fill the position and I was an overflow interview for the day. Simply an assumption based on how well I perceived the interview. It was certainly disappointing as this is an organization I'm extremely interested in. I feel like my two hours was wasted, and the preparation, stress, and anxiety in anticipation of the interview was for nothing. I'm hoping the experience will be different if I receive further interviews from this company.

Contacted by phone by department manager for initial discussion on job and if it was an interest. Scheduled for an informal phone interview with manager thereafter. Then met for two separate panel style interviews within the department and team. Received a call back about a week later with the job offer.
