I began my interview process with SafeBase with a 30-minute call scheduled with the Talent Acquisition Lead, which ended in about 15 minutes. Although I was moved to the next step, I was surprised by the brevity and lack of depth in the initial conversation, which seemed more like a checkbox exercise than an actual discussion.
After this, I met with the Design Manager for a 30-minute interview, which was straightforward, and I received an email two business days later confirming I’d move to the next round.
The next stage was a portfolio presentation with the Design Manager, a product team member, and another designer. Following this, I received no further communication from the company. No update, feedback, or confirmation of my status — just silence. It’s disappointing that after three rounds, a quick email with a decision wasn’t sent.
Candidates invest time and effort in each stage of the process, so clear communication is essential. While rejections are part of the job search, professional closure after multiple rounds is the very least that can be expected from a recruiter and reflects the company’s respect for candidates.
Safebase will ghost you.
