I emailed my professor at the end of the semester to become a TA for the course, and she easily agreed (because I got an A and met with her regularly during office hours)

Why do you want to be a TA for this course and do you want to get a recommendation through your TA? What time are you available?
I applied online from India. In the mathematics department they admit students every alternate year (at Rutgers-Newark). They did not apply any graduate students the year I applied, so they kept my application for consideration during the next academic year.
