I was previously a Freelancer and did not have to go through the formal interview process for being hired on as a full-time employee. This made everything much smoother and easier, but obviously is not always available to job seekers. They already knew who I was, knew my strengths and weaknesses, and I already knew (to some extent) what I could expect out of the position they were putting in front of me.
