The interview process consisted of:
- Initial chat with HR
- Technical interview with a Dev lead and developer (around 2 hours)
- Discussion with Head of Engineering (1 hour)
- Chat with CTO (U.S Based) (30 mins)
- Chat with CFO/CEO (U.S Based) (30 mins)
Note: Every interview was done via video call due to Covid.
Whilst there were quite a few rounds of interviews, I was thoroughly impressed by how well organised the entire process was (especially considering the coordination between two timezones). After every round, I was notified within 1 day of the outcome and feedback.
The technical interview involved me explaining a system that I had worked on and answering various questions around it. This was followed by a brief coding test and questions around Javascript/React. I enjoyed this interview as the two interviewers were incredibly friendly, engaged and made me feel very comfortable. They also provided a hint or two when required which was much appreciated.
The second round was a discussion with the Head Of Engineering around my past projects, experience etc. Once again, a very friendly person and it was great get some more insight into the types of technical challenges one would be working on at Rokt.
The third round was a chat with the CTO who is based out of NY, USA. This was a fantastic experience as the CTO is very down to earth and a straight shooter. He gave very direct responses and after this round, my desire to work at Rokt had greatly increased! I truly wish I had more time to chat to him as he seems to be very knowledgable and has great experience.
The final round was with the CFO (shadowed by the CEO) both based in NY, USA. This interview is known as the bar-raiser and focused primarily on trying to get to know me better as a person. One question I was asked, was to describe a time when I wanted to quit but persevered. The CFO was very easy to talk to and I also had a chance to speak to the CEO both at the start and the end of the interview.
Ultimately whilst I declined the offer, I was very impressed by everyone I encountered during this interview process. This was the only time in my career that I truly felt sad to turn down an offer but I do hope one day I will have an opportunity to work at Rokt!!
