I am disappointed to say I had probably the worst job interview I’ve ever experienced in my career with Rogers Behavioral Health. This was a virtual interview with 2 hiring managers and a staff RN. I prepared for this interview, showed up early, and was eager to learn about the position. To start, both hiring managers arrived late. Upon introductions, I was met with an unwelcoming hello from one of the managers (just my opinion). Every answer I gave after the initial encounter was also met with an unwelcoming and unimpressed “ok” (again, just my opinion). The other manager was snickering off and on throughout the interview, and I also noticed him twiddling his thumbs near the end of the interview and looking around elsewhere. To me, it seemed like the interview was over even before it started, which made me nervous, and I felt like I couldn’t say anything without walking on eggshells. I kept pressing how interested I was in the position, and how willing I was to learn about this specialty, but it seemed like the entire time they were trying to dissuade me from the position. I knew the interview was not going well, so I asked, “What hesitations do you have about me as a candidate?” I was giving them an out. The two managers could not list anything of substantial concern and agreed I was qualified. I was hopeful going into the interview, but I had to withdraw my application due to the unprofessionalism from the two hiring managers. I am not one that ever writes negative reviews, but I would like to help ensure that this doesn’t keep happening to future potential candidates. Maybe I wasn’t the right fit, but I feel like I still should have deserved a level of respect, as I do my best to show respect in the workplace.
