Upon submitting online application, cover letter, and CV I was contacted by a HR representative for a initial phone interview with a Riot Researcher. Upon completion of the interview I was informed that I would be contacted later with concern to a 2nd interview. A few weeks later I was contacted for a 2nd interview with two Riot researchers. A few days later after the 2nd interview I received the generic rejection letter. What I liked: - I think the interview process is fair and appears to be working well for the company - Riot has an amazing product and they hire people who really excel and love working there (see recent Fortune 100 best place to work article) - The case studies were fun - The researchers who I interviewed with are very intelligent (emotional and IQ) What I didn't like: - Although I liked the case studies, I felt they didn't allow me to express my research approach etc. It is difficult as an outsider (not working in the gaming industry) to solve gaming case studies without being in the trenches for a while. - Phone interview... I think they suck and are awkward. I personally like to see someone's face etc. Given cost restrictions this could be difficult to do.. though there is skype. Where I was lacking: - Relevant research experience in video games (I don't think this was deal breaker though) - I am not very good at people putting me on the spot with critical thinking question when I am not embedded - I think more qualitative experience would have helped Again, I want to reiterate that I think their interview process is fair and I respect their decision. However,

VERY long, over 10 interviews. No take home, thankfully, but the final round required a whole day to go through 5 hours of questioning. Nothing was out of the ordinary, but it felt excessive and disappointing to not get an offer after spending what amounted to 10 hours of interviewing with different Rioters
