The interview process for the Product Designer role at Rightmove was fairly standard. It started with an initial HR interview, followed by a second round with the hiring manager, and finally a panel interview with the hiring manager, a product manager, and a fellow product designer. Before the final interview, I received an email from HR outlining expectations for my case study presentation. I selected and prepared my case study based on the guidance provided, which focused on explaining my work process and collaboration style with team members. However, after the interview, I was informed that I was rejected because I hadn’t discussed KPIs—something that was never mentioned in HR’s initial guidance. The lack of clarity about expectations made the experience disappointing, as I had tailored my presentation to what was outlined but received feedback on aspects I wasn’t asked to cover.
