The interview process at first was fine. I was referred by a contact to apply to this position, and they were able to connect me with one of the co-founders. That conversation went fine, and then I was asked to submit a formal application on the website. I was then reached out to by their hiring manager, who didn't seem to know I had even spoken to one of the co-founders; when I brought this up, she didn't seem aware of it. This was a little odd and pointed to some lack of communication, but it wasn't a big thing. I was then told by the hiring manager I'd need to complete an analytics assessment over the weekend and send it back to then have the next person interview me. That was also mostly fine. It took me a little over an hour and a half to complete the assessment. I had the third interview. That went well also. The individual with whom I spoke was an absolute gem and really seemed passionate about her work. I was then reached out to and told I'd need to have a fourth and fifth interview. I've already had three interviews, filled out the application, and completed a 90+ minute assessment, but sure. Once I had the fourth and fifth interviews, one of which had to be rescheduled due to a work emergency on my end, I sent a thank you note to the hiring manager and asked for next steps. A couple days passed, and the hiring manager told me on Monday she'd have an update for me by EOD Wednesday. Wednesday passed with nothing. I followed up Thursday around noon. I didn't receive a response until Friday late afternoon that they had decided to move forward with other candidates. This is after I completed five interviews and an assessment. The entire team there knew I'm currently operating as a one-person marketing department, and yet they thought it was acceptable to waste my time in this way only to reject me. Most of the individuals I met with are superb human beings and clearly are passionate about their work. That said, the company, at least from this experience, has absolutely no organization in place when it comes to hiring, and it seems like communication is subpar at best.
