      Entretien

Like most the other experiences, I saw the ad on one of the many job sites, filled out an application for consideration. Was contacted by a recruiter at R&R to fill out another more lengthy application with attached assessment survey/test centered around workplace ethics and management. The same recruiter replied back in a week requesting I schedule an interview with a follow up exam which did include a sample of the types of questions. Pattern recognition, spatial recognition, mechanic aptitude, and some stats/algebra. Full disclosure, it was at this point I had already lost some interest. I feel this method for screening candidates is very caviler for multiple reasons. It is dismissive to my many years of education, experience and excellent success rate. Which of course is ridiculous, but I love a challenge. I arrive early for my interview, meet with the receptionist where I hand over my phone and then I'm directed to the testing lab where I see thirty depressed and annoyed potentials. The test is timed and fast paced but excessively overdrawn to 90mins to 2hrs, I had no misconception that my score impressed anyone, but more importantly no questions were relevant to the position I was applying for. I was lead to believe there would be an interview afterwards where I believed my strong points would be discovered. Instead I was dismissed and emailed a week later I would not be going forward in the interview process and was no longer being considered. If R&R wants to continue this practice I suggest lead with a short version of the exam. Explain that if they pass the online version, a longer version of that exam awaits where no electronic devices will be allowed. This would create a more efficient screening process and improve productivity for all parties concerned. My only regret is I wish I utilized the resources made available by glassdoor.com.
