I can't believe Germany has so many of these garbage companies.
You want someone who spent 10 years on a single project and then quit that and work for you for a salary of 65K? Really? Maybe do this instead: hire a scientist, they are cheap.
Interviewers were totally unprepared and they were just asking random mumbo jumbo. They had no questions left after 15 minutes of the interview. And they switched over to self-flattery. Tell me how awesome this company is? Tell me what is the best thing about our application?

Question 1
Tell me what is the best thing about our application?
I'm sorry to learn that you had a poor experience during your interview. Thanks so much for taking the time to give your feedback, which is important to us. We take great care to benchmark our salaries against the Berlin market. The city offers an excellent quality of life and attracts people from around the world (that's why we love it here!).
Wishing you every success in your next career steps.

I applied to ResearchGate through one of the job listing portals. I received initial reply from the recruitment team within few days.
Process started with an online coding test. Scoring algorithm will evaluate your solution based on the efficiency, handling of corner cases, complex inputs etc.
Next round was with technical team members to understand the my background, experiences, areas of interest and to know more about the roles. In my case, there were two different job profiles which looked interesting to me. So, I mentioned about my relative preference. Their team informed me that, typically recruitment process would be common for both position. This was big relief for me because it saved me from going through same process multiple times.
After this, there was a take home coding assignment. The problem statement was quite interesting. It was not specific to any technology. Finally, they had 2 more technical rounds.
Through our discussions, I got to know about their technical stack. I have worked on some of those technologies in the past. But, some of them were new to me. I liked the fact that, selection process was designed to judge depth of your knowledge in the areas you have worked on. I believe, they had a clear idea that a good candidate can be trained on the desired technologies. This was one differentiating factor for this company as compared to other companies which interviewed me.
Overall: Very positive
Le processus a pris 3 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez ResearchGate (Berlin) en nov. 2017

1) codility challenge
2) screening interview
3) small programming assignment to solve at home
4) main technical interview
Questions and challenges were quiet interesting. Even without knowing the answer it was possible to get to it with logic and a previous experience. There were no stupid "cliche " questions. Mostly about architecture of distributed systems, but also some sql and basic java coding task.
