I participated in 4 rounds of interviews: a check in with hr first; then a 30min interview with the direct manager; then a 30 min interview with the director; then a panel interview with the team. I had to prepare a formal presentation on a topic of their choosing for the panel interview, and demo the presentation/facilitation. The only parameters provided for the presentation were time and topic. I followed up with specific questions to make sure what I prepared was on point. HR worked fast, and there was clear and consistent information from them. I thought the interviews went well, but I found out afterwards that I was given conflicting information. The direct supervisor told me I would be training managers and higher level leadership as the role, so I prepared my sample presentation with that audience in mind. I even asked specific questions about my topic and the activities I was designing. After the panel round, HR called to inform me I did not get the job, and when I asked for feedback, they said they thought I wouldn't be an appropriate trainer for blue collar workers. So the role and audience I was initially told was different than what their expectations were for the presentation, which ultimately led me to not receiving an offer. It was frustrating and disappointing, but perhaps a dodged bullet if their communication and expectations were so varied and unclear.
