I can’t really say I went through an interview process. The recruiter responded to my application and we scheduled a call. He didn’t show up to the call but sent an email saying he was double booked. Scheduled another call. He showed up nearly 10 minutes late. Gave me a brief pitch about Replit and said the hiring manager has already reviewed my resume so he will schedule an interview. Two weeks later I received an automated email saying they will not be moving forward with my application.

Overall, the process was professionally coordinated, but the interview loop did not feel well calibrated to the role I was interviewing for. The technical interview was framed as a real-world system design problem, but quickly narrowed into a specific implementation detail that was not clearly tied back to product requirements or the responsibilities of the role. That made the exercise feel more like deriving a hidden abstraction than working through a realistic scenario. When I asked for more clarity on the purpose and requirements of what we were building, the guidance remained fairly limited. Another interview was conducted by someone who was audibly very sick, video off, and understandably rushed. Given the company’s emphasis on in-person collaboration, I was surprised this segment wasn’t rescheduled. Overall, I was surprised by how little the loop explored the specific experience and responsibilities the role seemed to call for. It felt more like a company-specific technical screen mixed with a generic management and philosophy conversation than a targeted evaluation for this role.
