Very quick, Irina, who I interviewed with was very straight to the point. So to the point she in fact would not let me finish any statements about my experience.
When asked how long I have done technical design, I said 8 years.
When asked about 4 more times, same answer 8 years.
Then felt the need to say they didn’t see any tech pack work for womenswear (which is in my portfolio attached) and didn’t have much to say once I said there is proven work.
And told me that I was coming in, and kind you she did this, *pounds chest like a gorilla* so confident but she’s seen that and that they never deliver.
Then offered the option to Freelance, in which I responded, kindly no, as I am aware of the role I applied for, the responsibilities and duties, and would not be applying to jobs that I don’t have the experience to come do. Coming from a managers position I said I understood her perspectives and hesitations, but I would not waste her time or mine going for work I’m not qualified for.
She then felt the need to remind me that I wasn’t the only one going for the position, she has hundreds of people with experience and that she was giving me a “chance”.
I’m sure it’s a great company in some aspects, but the interview process felt very demeaning.
Also if you are a fashion designer (which most people applying for these jobs are) don’t mention it because once you mention that you do your own designs and produce your own work, she will immediately say that’s not good, suggest that you should be focusing on that not going and getting a job for someone else, and that it’s a conflict of interest.
