I was contacted by the recruiter to schedule a call with the hiring manager and answer some preliminary questions. Hiring manager and I had a talk but that was the last I heard from him. Next email I received was that they were going another route but they could not provide the reason why I was not brought in for another interview.

The process was brief. I hate to be the beneficiary of knowing someone in the ranks to get the position, but that is how it works at Rackspace. In order to get promoted within you have to know someone who is hiring you or at least the panel that is hiring you. You know them and they like you, you're in! Plain and simple.
