Had a standard interview with some behavioral questions and getting more details about the role. When it was my turn for questions I asked how soon are they looking to fill the role to get a better idea of a start date timeline. I was told that there actually isn't currently a project for me but they hope to hire by the end of the year. A 4-month window of when they 'may hire' someone felt very ambiguous and like my time was being wasted. It's been over a week since then and I don't expect to hear back from them.
