I first heard of this job through a family friend who had been hired because they worked in the same military unit as the owner's son. I met with the owner and his "second-in-command" during a semi-formal interview. At the time, the company was experiencing rapid growth and would hire nearly anyone who came in the door. The owner and his second are both extremely technically proficient engineers with years of experience between them. They know their respective fields very well but they are relatively new to the world of small business ownership and management. They asked the usual questions about background and previous experience, why I left my last job, etc..
All of the people at the company were extremely nice and polite without being fussy or ostentatious. After the interview, I received a formal job offer the very next day.
For all intents and purposes, this company should be treated as a "Mom and Pop" operation.
