It's important for people to realize this position was recently created and it's more like a planning/assistant position than it is merchandising. Secondly, there are no other merchandising coordinators, therefore, it's a very independent role.
Overall, the interview was unorganized and to my surprise, I realized I didn't want to be a part of it halfway through it. It was held outside a coffee shop, the owners, digital strategist and director of operations all took turns asking about what I do at my current job and nothing else. I've been on plenty of interviews, but this was the first time I felt the interviewers were not prepared, they were inarticulate and they wanted a COORDINATOR that can create their own job and data system for an existing store with thousands of products. I believe they care about their business, but they didn't express anything positive about their own roles or share any sort of background experience about Poketo, which I found unusual and discouraging. I don't think expectations are realistic for this the level of this position - they are busy people and they all help with other tasks outside their roles, so they are really looking for someone who can hit the ground running. Most roles I know that require people to create and implement systems require a bit more experience.
Also, upon arrival I let the sales associate know I was there for an interview and asked for my contact. I waited 25 minutes before my contact came out and the owner told me no one knew I was there and then asked me if I'd let anyone know I'd arrived... Really?
