This interview was, unfortunately, one of the most unprofessional experiences I’ve encountered. The interviewer joined 5 minutes late, only to inform me that he would be delayed by another 5 minutes. He finally joined 15 minutes past the scheduled time and asked me to give a brief introduction about myself.
While I was answering one of his questions, he abruptly stopped me and asked me to be more concise. It seemed like he was trying to save time because he had started late. He then asked what round HR had scheduled, and by that point, 40 minutes had already passed since the original start time. When I mentioned that it was supposed to be a code optimization round, he searched for a question and decided to switch it to a low-level design round instead.
He shared a codeshare link with a Python code snippet and asked me to refactor it into any language of my choice within 20 minutes. I did my best within the given time, but it felt like the interviewer was not impressed.
Overall, I found the process to be quite humiliating. It would have been more professional to reschedule the interview if the interviewer was unavailable or to simply inform me if my profile wasn’t a fit for the position. Wasting a candidate’s time, especially in such a disorganized manner, is not acceptable.
