Entretien
The process was very disrespectful of the candidate's time and multiple interviewers didn't come prepared/didn't show up on time or at all.
The interview consisted of:
- recruiter phone screening (non technical)
- coding interview on coderpad, on par with leetcode medium
- 4 interviews as part of an interview panel, can't disclose details due to NDA
A few of the issues:
* both interviewers in #1 and #2 had less than proficient English and had trouble understanding me when I was asking clarifying questions. This never happened with any other interviewer at Pinterest or any other company.
1. One of the interviewers was about to start a coding interview until I stated that this was supposed to be a different type of interview. They were really surprised and confused by this and proceeded to (what seemed like) come up with a random problem and ask confused questions throughout the whole interview, as if they had no plan in mind.
2. Another interviewer didn’t show up on the scheduled time. After reaching out to the recruiter I was told there were technical issues with their laptop (sure, this happens). The interview was rescheduled and that time the interviewer did show up but never even acknowledged the fact they didn’t show up on the initial date, which makes me assume they just forgot/didn’t wake up initially. After brief introductions I was presented with a question with such a large scope that I would never think asking during an interview that is shorter than 1.5hr, mind you at that point I had 30 mins left. I interviewed many people during my career so I have a gauge on what scope is expected for a question. To be clear, I was told they expect me to fully solve the problem, a partial solution was not what they were aiming for.
3. During the whole process the recruiter was mostly responsive, except for the moment when they were told I have other contracts and would appreciate their decision as soon as possible after the interviews conclude. (I didn't request to speed up the process in any way)
After that request they said they will do their best to give me an update asap, but when I reached out a few days after the process concluded I received an OOO message saying they’ll be back next week. When they got back to work I had to reach out again to get the rejection.
After this whole ordeal I asked for more detailed constructive feedback, after all, I did put in more than 5 hours interviewing with them. What I got was non-answers or no response at all.
At which point I just gave up.

It was fast and had 3 interviews after screening one.
Basic programming, but data wrangling was harder as the person interviewing had more experience than the previous ones and it showed

Interviewer barely spoke english. I solved the problem and had a bug. I was able to fix the bug quickly by myself. Then the next day the interviewer passed on my candidacy because my “initial solution had a bug” which I fixed quickly. The most annoying part of the interview was the lack of english-speaking abilities. Dont waste your time. They’ll dock you for any frivolous thing, especially if you’re not from “their” community. Please stop having people who dont speak english interview candidates!
