Interview Process at Spa Pendry DC – Impersonal & Misaligned with Industry Needs
I applied for a massage therapist position at Spa Pendry DC and was immediately put through an automated, impersonal hiring process. Despite my extensive qualifications, the hiring manager ignored my preferred last name in multiple emails, which was a small but telling sign of their lack of attention to detail and respect for candidates.
Instead of engaging in a real conversation, I was asked to fill out an online application and complete an AI-based “Talent Plus” screening assessment before even being considered for an interview. In an industry where human connection, skill, and professionalism matter most, their hiring approach felt completely out of touch.
Additionally, the compensation structure is far below industry standards for the experience level they require. They are seeking highly trained therapists with years of experience and multiple specialties, yet offering entry-level wages. Given that this job has been open for over 30 days, it’s clear they are struggling to find therapists willing to accept these terms.
Advice to Management:
Engage directly with experienced therapists instead of relying on AI screening.
Respect candidate preferences and treat applicants as valued professionals.
Offer competitive compensation that reflects the high expectations set for this role.
Overall, I chose not to proceed with my application, and I wouldn’t recommend this job to any experienced LMTs who value respect, fair pay, and a supportive work environment.
