PayIt has a very well thought-out and executed interview process. My initial interview was an in-person meeting with Phillip where you get to know each other and you answer questions about your background and why you’re interested in the position and the company. I then got an at-home programming assignment with no particular time limit. Then I got some feedback on that assignment and an invitation to come in and interview with the CTO, Richard Garbi, and to do a technical interview with some team leads where we went over the programming assignment. It was a fairly open-ended conversational Q&A about why I did things a certain way and coming up with alternative ways of approaching things. Fairly high-level design questions such as code modularity and commenting philosophy e.g. I thought it was an effective process that gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your skills and understanding. Phillip oversaw the process from beginning to end, made it extremely clear and easy, and was very responsive to all my questions. There were no big surprises and it was a very reasonable, focused process. In general, it was what you hope an interview would be. They don’t waste your time with irrelevant things and were just focused on getting to know you and where you’re coming from. PayIt really comes across as a group of very dedicated and highly competent people churning out a lot of well-designed products. Their interview process was no different.
