Interview process was lengthy. I had a 1 hour phone interview followed by another 1 hour phone interview the following day. A week later, I had a 4 hour in-person interview with 4 people (one hour each), then a follow up 2.5 hour interview with 3 people (one at a time). The process took a while due to the Thanksgiving holiday
As lengthy as the process was, I also understand the need to really get a feel for my approach and communication style. I am a leadership coach and I understand that one poor fit onto a team can really throw an organization into turmoil if it's not prepared with coaching. While it's hard to think about myself as that poor fit, I can't encourage companies to follow this level of rigor in interviews and then complain about it when I'm not offered the position. I trust the process to make the right choice.
Without knowing my competition for the role, I'd like to offer one word of advice to PagerDuty: Perfection is the enemy of the good. Be cautious of the idea that you'll find a human being who connects perfectly with every other human being in an organization of varied personalities. Passionate people have rough edges. Good communication skills can soften them and the passion you get is worth the effort. As the organization grows, this personality mix will be even more varied and difficult to match. Don't try. Homogeny is the enemy of innovation after a company begins to surpass 100 employees.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
I define difficult questions as ones where I end up rethinking my answers over and over after the interview. For me, one such question was "What would your first 90 days look like here?" I felt that my answer was very canned and after I left, I thought, "Why didn't I talk about this or that?" It's a deep question and one that I'm hesitant to pre-think about too much because every situation is different. It was literally one of the first questions I got so I had very little time to apply PagerDuty context to my answer.

Ridiculous! I received an email 30 minutes before the interview tell me she found out last night there was a conflict and had to reschedule. Does she think my day isn't busy either. Total lack of respect and then said she would be back in touch to set up another one. Seriously, all you have to do is say I'm sorry we found other candidates that better fit the role. I'm ok with that but don't hide under I'll reschedule and then you ghost me. Should have ended it on good terms.

None because she never rescheduled which I would not have anyway.

Overall it was a very high-touch and enjoyable experience! My recruiter was fantastic. She made sure I always knew expectations and timeline. Everyone I met with was aligned on the role and asked good questions.
