A recruiter contacted me via LinkedIn, and I told her I didn't think I fit their job criteria but she wanted to speak to me anyway. She started the call by telling me how much money they've raised the past year, over emphasizing just how much capital they've raised. When it came to salary, she told me the salary was so low because there was such great possibility of equity. She did not specify how much equity they would offer. I asked her how many people this position reports to, and she told me 3 people but listed 5 names. It was one of the strangest interviews I've ever had. Generally, I have to say, the paralegal position they were looking to hire is consistent with their business model - they wanted someone who is experienced in a wide range of areas, the full package, but they only wanted to pay fractionally for the employee.
