I was called by the recruiter and was told I was selected for a group interview on a specific date and time. When I arrived, I was one of 12 people for the interview. There was a recruiter and 3 managers there conducting the interview.
They asked us all the same questions and we went around the room and answered them when it was our turn. I did not like this format of conducting an interview.
The interview actually had several positions people applied for and all were being screened at the same time. It was a very informal approach to interview people for these different job openings.
After they completing asking the questions, they dismissed the majority of the people at the interview and kept a few behind to ask more questions. I guess this was they method of weeding people out.
I was told I would hear something within the next day, in reality, it took 6 weeks to get a letter in the mail saying I did not get the job. This was very unprofessional, in my opinion.
I definitely would not do this group interview method in the future. The 1 on 1 method give you the best opportunity to shine with an employer.
