Was contacted by a recruiter, they did not seem to have a formal HR dept. or information on their website, which was an initial red flag. After 2-3 phone screenings, I spoke with upper management, which was a bit informal but informational. From that stage there was in-person interview at a hoteling facility (they do not have an office - another red flag). The structure was basic - "Tell me about your experience, what you did, accomplished - and how your manager would rate you" This took about 90 minutes to go through all of my experience and various roles, leaving no time to actually talk. I was kind of put off that after each role they asked me to spell a managers name (even from 15 years ago). The warm an fuzzies began to wear off. I was asked to do an additional phone conference with the entire managements team and about 1/2 way through the call I pulled the plug as stated I was not interested.
The most alarming issue was that they probed on my personal life/relationship. This is HR 101 - no matter the level of interview, you cannot ask this, had I really cared about the position and not gotten the job this is an easy lawsuit. I got a clear sense that there was no culture at the company. I was also concerned that the CEO wasn't fully vested. He had moved from from job to job several times in the last 5 years.
