My interview with OpsRamp was after they had been acquired by HPE. An HPE recruiter reached out to me and arranged the first interview.
1. First round interview with hiring manager -- went well
2. Second round interview with a VP (manager of the hiring manager) -- went well
3. Final round interview scheduled with c-level but actually done by their chief of staff -- this had some serious ethical & legal issues.
- Asked where I was from which I answered after some hesitation.
- Then said something like "Ah so your religion is xyz?", which I also reluctantly answered.
- Repeated multiple times throughout the interview that they are looking for an energetic person as OpsRamp operates like a startup even though part of HPE. To me this was a clear indication that it was a reference to my age.
Clearly this interviewer was biased right from the start of the interview. Although I met all the requirements and answered all interview questions very well (my perspective) and I made it to the final round so clearly the first two managers were OK with my hiring. But the interviewer for the final stage was biased against me based only on my country of origin, religion and age.
