      Entretien pour Senior .NET Developer

      Expérience négative

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez OnShift (Cleveland, OH) en mai 2019

      Entretien

Admittedly, my interview was over a year ago. Having some holiday free time and hearing the company name mentioned by someone, I thought I would get this off my low-pri to do list. I was emailed by a recruiter. He had a local company that had all new "greenfield" development. The indication was that they were paying well enough to lure me away. Company was headed in new directions and needed my experience. I agreed to an interview and this was set up pretty quickly. This was downtown Cleveland one late weekday afternoon. Interesting place but downtown (my current employer has an interesting place in an easy-access suburb). Ok. Met with 4 people with a separate interview to occur when I was done with these folks. Lots of questions, including my own. Not all "greenfield" development, still plenty of old script code to maintain. Chit chat and discussion. Suddenly, with no warning, the interview was over. The "next" person was now unavailable and I was abruptly dismissed. This was the weirdest, most unprofessional interview I have ever experienced. Never heard back from them or the recruiter. As someone else reported in a more-recent interview with this company, there seemed to be much attention to phones, laptops and behind the back signals and expressions. Did I botch this interview somehow? I don't think so; I've had interviews much worse than this ... at least in my eyes. Might they have perceived my discouragement, at least a little, after hearing about the *real* position? Perhaps. I hadn't totally dismissed the notion of moving there, but the opportunity was way less glossy than when I walked in. Might they have realized that, you know, having the gobs of experience I do have, I was older than some college greenie? Again, maybe, but I have so much time left to create things before I am "too old". You know, as long as they allow me to solve complex problems and create solutions ("fun"). It would have been nice to have been told of any issue. At the time I wasn't too disappointed as what was sold to me by the recruiter was NOT what I was hearing from the interviewers. It was a chuckle to be so swiftly and abruptly dismissed. No, seriously. What just happened? :). This company was also sold, by the recruiter, as the next "big high tech name" in Cleveland. That hasn't really happened. Yet? Crossing my fingers for you, but I think you need to find some real professionals to do your interviewing first.

      Question 1

I don't recall; it seemed pretty informal and no specific technical question comes to mind. Why I wanted to leave my position at my current employer?
