STAY AWAY - WASTED MY TIME I applied for Northwestern Mutual in the middle of December. I was excited when I received a response for my application. My interview was scheduled for Jan 6th. 5 rounds of interviews later ( 2 in person). I received an offer the last week in January. I was informed that my start date would be in two weeks so I would be on the proper payroll cycle. I received several calls and messages from managers saying how excited they were to work with me. However, less than a week before my start date, I received a call from the COO saying my offer had been rescinded. I asked why and was told that they were “going in a different direction”. I called the person who was would have been my manager and left her a voicemail. Sent her an email and I did not receive a reply( even though she was one of the people who sent me emails and called to congratulate me). Rescinding my offer is one thing, but not giving me a substantive reason for why is unconscionable. I resigned from my other job and did most of the onboarding: fingerprints (they had to reimburse me), went through 5 rounds of interviews, and extensive paperwork ( even sent information regarding my brokerage accounts). However, I didn’t get the courtesy of knowing the reason my offer was rescinded less than a week I say all this to warn others. I cannot stop you from applying to/ working at NorthWestern Mutual, but I wanted to let you know what an inhumane, unethical company you would be joining. They would drop you in a second without explanation.

Was put through six different interviews over the course of six weeks. They were barely responsive and strung me along, and then passed me off to another location that didn’t follow up with me.
