      Entretien

One day interview process with two interviews. First interviewed by Department Manager then interviewed by Human Resources or Store Manager. Simple Questions. Tell us a little about yourself. What was your most difficult experience? What are some of your weaknesses? Easy interview process. Advice read up on company culture and know the History of Nordstroms. Upside down pyramid is the structure of Management and sometime to read up on.

      Entretien

Applied online, got a call from the woman's department manager. Interview over the phone then decided that she liked me enough to have a one on one interview. Went to the store had the interview in an office, don't remember any of the questions asked or how I answered, I do remember being asked about the company's history (I ended up knowing more than the manager thanks to reading the website the night before). She also shared her personal story of moving up in the company and about new stores opening, you have to seem like you're impressed and interested in working for such a growing company. Then I was taken on a tour of the floor, warehouse, fitting rooms and lunch room while being introduced to everyone. I was interviewing for a job at the Rack so she explained the difference between special purchase, full line and designer and then point out Brass Plum from Savvy and Individualist.... kind of overwhelming at first. Then I was told that if I did better than another interview she had she'd call me to have an interview with the store manager. I got a call for the interview, had the interview in the same office which happens to be the store manager's office, she was gorgeous but very unfriendly, the department manager is in the room while the store manager interviews you and they ask you questions like what the person below posted. She first asked a bunch of questions and I thought that was the interview but noooo then there were another million questions. Then they told me they'd call me if they wanted to offer me the position. I then got a message telling me when my official first day would be, my hourly wage ($10/hr), that I was expected to dress professionally, that I would receive a 20% discount starting my first day and a big welcome to the "family". My first day consisted of paper work, acquiring my employee number and reading pamphlets on my expectations, the company and dress code. Then I was taken on another quick tour and introduced to even more people then I had an orientation with loss prevention, there we watched a video, signed some more documents, signed up for a locker, and were assigned security pin numbers. Later I then went to another orientation at the full line store which was basically the same stuff over again except there we watched another video and played Nordstrom Jeopardy where I won enough point for a free parking pass but since I didn't drive myself I got a coffee card instead even though I can't stand coffee. If you work at full line you are taught sales techniques and I believe you take cash register training but since I work at the Rack I got to go home early and had cashier training at my own store. It took about a week for all of this to happen.
